Maintenance of Extinguishers

BK Fire install and maintain extinguishers across Kent, London and the South East of England.  Our standard extinguisher maintenance package starts from £50 + VAT per year and covers up to 10 extinguishers / fire blankets (any additional units are priced at £5 per unit).

Extinguishers require extended discharge testing every 5 years (every 10 years for CO2 models).  A full price list which includes common items such as replacement extinguisher hoses, signage and accessories is provided to our contracted extinguisher clients for reference purposes.  Contact us for more information and to get a quote.

Types of Extinguishers

All extinguishers are red but each extinguisher type has a different coloured band across it. Below are a list of the most common extinguishers and the type of fires they are used for:

Water - Red

Used for Class A fire types

Class A is materials such as wood, paper, material and cloth

Foam - Cream

Used for Class A and Class B fires.

Class A is ordinary materials such as wood, paper, material and cloth

Class B is fuel based fires such as diesel, ethanol, petrol or kerosene

CO2 - Black

Used for Class B fires

Class B is fuel based fires such as diesel, ethanool, petrol or kerosene.

Also covers Electrical hazards

Dry Powder - Blue

Used for Class A, Class B, Class C fires.

Class A is ordinary materials such as wood or paper.

Class B is fuel based fires such as kerosene or petrol.

Class C is flammable gases such as acetone or ammonia.

Wet Chemical - Yellow

Used for Class F fire.

Class F is fires involving cooking oils or fats.

Fire Blankets

Used mainly for kitchen fires but can also be used for waste bins.
